Kolkata, August 5, 2025 — The crowd roared, screens flashed, and strategies unfolded in real-time as Techno India University, Kolkata, proudly hosted the University Esports Championship (UEC) 2025 National Finals—India’s biggest university-level esports tournament.
For the first time ever, Eastern India witnessed a national esports spectacle of this scale, as Techno India Group, in collaboration with NoScope Gaming and Red Bull, hosted the top 16 university esports teams from across the country in an electrifying showdown. The University Esports Championship (UEC), now in its second season, is the only tournament in India to span all major gaming platforms—PC, console, mobile, and VR—celebrating talent across every device, every genre, and every student gamer.
The UEC 2025 National Finals brought out the best in India’s young gaming talent, and the champions didn’t just win titles—they won hearts. VIT Vellore stole the spotlight, walking away as the Overall UEC Champion after a commanding performance across the board, including an explosive victory in BGMI (Mobile) that had the entire arena on its feet. In the Valorant (PC) battlefield, it was MIT World Peace University, Pune who proved they had nerves of steel, outplaying their opponents with clutch plays and flawless teamwork. the FC25 (PS5) stage was Rohit J Abraham from MG University, Kerala, whose footwork and game sense dazzled both the crowd and the competition. Over on the console front, LNCT Group of Colleges aced the competition in Tennis Esports, showing finesse, focus, and championship mentality. And in a moment that truly captured the spirit of esports. These aren’t just winners—they’re the future faces of Indian esports.

Techno India University’s own Team Takshila was also recognized with the Technical Excellence Award for their stellar backstage coordination, stream management, and flawless technical support—playing a crucial role in delivering a world-class tournament experience.
Mr. Meghdut RoyChowdhury, Chief Innovation Officer, Techno India Group and Founder of Make Calcutta relevant Again, delivered a stirring keynote that set the tone for the entire championship: “In Bengal, we take ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ a bit too seriously—we’re aggressively good hosts. Once you’ve been taken care of in Kolkata, nothing else compares. I’m not just from Kolkata—I am Kolkata. I’ve written this city in the Mariana Trench of my heart. Everything we do is to change the narrative around it. This championship wasn’t just an event—it was 15 years of trust and friendship coming full circle. When Abhinandan called, I didn’t need details. I just said, ‘I’m in.’ Fifteen years ago, our parents would’ve laughed at the idea of gaming as a career. Today, we’re not just hosting tournaments—we’re building futures. We built the space, but you brought it to life. That energy—raw, restless, relentless—is what makes this more than just a game. If this is what we created in five days, imagine what we’ll build in 365. We’re launching Eastern India’s first permanent e-sports hub in Kolkata—with Techno India University and OSU Open.”
Mr. Abhinandan Mukherjee, Project Head, NoScope Gaming, praised the event’s scale and execution: “If India wants to produce esports superstars, we need to nurture the grassroots—and that starts with our universities. This was never about money, it was about building the supply chain for Indian esports…Esports is not gambling, and it’s not just ‘kids playing games.’ It’s the future of competitive sport—just like colleges have cricket and football teams, they’ll soon have esports teams too. When I wanted to bring CUEC to Kolkata, I didn’t approach anyone else. I just called Meghdut and said, ‘Are you in?’ That’s the power of trust and vision.”
Mr. Deepesh Indrapal Solanki, Director, NoScope Gaming, emphasized the bigger picture: “I saw what the world had—and what India didn’t. That’s when I knew we needed a platform where players could rise, compete globally, and make our country proud. The vision has always been simple: educate, elevate, empower. The hardest part was finding the right people who believed in the vision. But once I had a team that said ‘we’ instead of ‘I,’ everything changed. We grow together—and that’s our strength. Parents think esports isn’t a real career—but so did people once doubt cricket and tennis. It’s about how we communicate. If we show them the right path and the right purpose, they’ll believe too.“
A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of Eastern India’s first-ever Esports Hub, launched in Kolkata in partnership with Techno India University and NoScope Gaming. The hub aims to foster esports training, game development, content creation, and industry networking—all under one roof—making Kolkata a rising capital in India’s digital sports economy.

To cap off the adrenaline-packed finals, the UEC 2025 stage turned into a laughter riot with a headlining stand-up special by none other than Anirban Dasgupta. His razor-sharp wit and relatable humour had the entire crowd in splits, making not just the end of a tournament—but a full-blown celebration. From clutch plays to clutch punchlines, it was the perfect closing act for a landmark event.
Mayank Jhunjhunwala, Event Manager from NoScope Gaming, played a pivotal role in the smooth execution of the championship. His calm and composed approach ensured the event ran seamlessly from start to finish.

UEC 2025 wasn’t just a championship—it was a celebration of youth, technology, and the unstoppable rise of esports in India. It wasn’t just about winning games; it was about passion, sleepless nights of practice, bold strategies, underdog stories, and the thrill of playing on a national stage. From lightning-fast reflexes to heartwarming moments of team spirit, the finals captured what happens when young talent is given a space to shine.
In a country where esports is rapidly emerging as a serious career path, this event marked a cultural shift—one where digital athletes are finally getting the recognition they deserve. The crowd, the lights, the intensity—it all came together to prove that esports isn’t “just gaming” anymore. It’s discipline. It’s storytelling. It’s future.
And standing tall at the center of it all was Techno India University—not just as a venue, but as a visionary. By opening its doors to this national spectacle and co-creating Eastern India’s first dedicated esports hub with NoScope Gaming, the university made a bold statement: the future belongs to creators, coders, thinkers, and gamers.
