Techno India Group Public School (TIGPS), Garia recently witnessed a vibrant display of creativity and environmental consciousness through an event titled ‘Navikaran’. Organized by the school’s Financial Studies Department, Navikaran served as a platform for students to showcase innovative and practical items crafted entirely from discarded materials, emphasizing the crucial principle of waste reduction in environmental sustainability.
For nearly a month, the students of the Financial Studies Department diligently worked on transforming waste into wonderful creations. The exhibition-cum-sale featured a diverse range of products, including beautifully handcrafted jewellery, durable cloth bags, artistic lamp shades, charming fridge magnets, expressive canvas paintings, useful bookmarks, and a variety of other unique decorative items.
Beyond the creative aspect, ‘Navikaran’ provided invaluable hands-on experience to the students in various crucial domains. They gained practical insights into sales and marketing strategies, event administration, and basic accounting principles, making the initiative a holistic learning experience.
The event was graced by the presence of the honourable Co-Chairperson Madam Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, along with the respected Principal, Ms. Tania Sen. Both dignitaries were deeply impressed by the ingenuity and dedication displayed by the students in crafting these sustainable products. Madam Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury expressed her appreciation by purchasing several items and penning down her thoughts on ‘Navikaran’, which filled the students with joy and further motivated their efforts. Her encouraging words, “You made my day, dear children. Fabulous, fantastic exhibition ‘Navikaran’. Keep it up, come up with more such innovative projects. Techno feels proud for you. With lots of love-,” resonated deeply within the school community.
The enthusiasm of parents who visited ‘Navikaran’ and purchased the creatively repurposed items was also heartening to witness. The success of this initiative can be attributed to the insightful motivation and unwavering guidance provided by the respected Principal Madam and the dedicated mentor teachers. ‘Navikaran’ at TIGPS Garia not only celebrated the students’ artistic talents but also instilled in them a deeper understanding of environmental responsibility and the potential of resourcefulness.
