TIGPS Mankundu’s Excursion to Jharkhali: A Memorable Journey to Nature

Techno India Group Public School, Mankundu, organized a remarkable excursion to Jharkhali in the Sundarbans on the 7th and 8th of December 2024. This trip was designed to provide students with an enriching experience amidst nature while fostering learning and camaraderie.

The journey began early on the 7th as middle-school students and teachers set out from the school campus with enthusiasm. The bus ride was filled with joy, laughter, and songs, setting the tone for an exciting adventure. Upon reaching Jharkhali, the group was welcomed by the serene beauty of the Jhore Jole Jongole Eco Heritage Resort, nestled in the heart of the Sundarbans.

The first stop was the Jharkhali Tiger Rescue Centre, where students learned about the conservation efforts for the Royal Bengal Tigers. The sight of these majestic creatures, even from a safe distance, was captivating. The visit also highlighted the challenges faced in tiger preservation and the need for wildlife protection.

In the evening, a cultural program brought the group closer to the heritage of the Sundarbans. Traditional folk songs, Baul music, and vibrant dances celebrated the region’s rich culture and left everyone enthralled.

On the second day, students delved deeper into the importance of mangroves in shielding coastal areas from erosion and cyclones. They explored the biodiversity of the Sundarbans, learning about the countless species that call this unique ecosystem home. The visit to Jharkhali Park added a layer of fun, with recreational activities and opportunities to understand the local environment.

Before bidding farewell to Jharkhali, the group enjoyed a sumptuous Bengali lunch featuring local delicacies. The students returned home with cherished memories, a deeper appreciation for nature, and a renewed commitment to preserving the fragile ecosystems like the Sundarbans.

The excursion was a perfect blend of learning, fun, and togetherness, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. It was truly an experience to treasure and an opportunity to understand the delicate balance of nature.
