Techno India Group Public School, Garia, celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm on August 29, 2024, to commemorate the 119th birth anniversary of the legendary Indian hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand. The event, at MP Hall-2 and the Basketball Court, witnessed active participation from students of Classes IX to XII.
The celebrations began with a warm introductory speech by the students of Class XII B, setting the tone for the day’s events. The school’s respected Principal, Ms. Tania Sen then addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of sports in building character, teamwork, and perseverance among students.
Several exciting games were organized for the students, who competed in their respective houses—Netaji House, Teresa House, Vivekananda House, and Tagore House—demonstrating their athletic skills and team spirit. The games were carefully planned to ensure participation from all classes:
Puzzle Game: Engaging the minds of students from Classes IX A, IX B, and IX C, the puzzle game took place encouraging strategic thinking and collaboration.
Basketball: A thrilling basketball match was held for both boys and girls of Classes X A and X B, showcasing agility and teamwork.
Langdi for Boys and Girls: A traditional game of Langdi was organized for Classes XI A and XI B highlighting agility and endurance.
Volleyball and Carom: The event continued with volleyball and carom matches for Classes XII A and XII B, fostering a spirit of friendly competition.
A special highlight of the day was the inauguration of a new carom board for the students by the honorable Principal Madam, symbolizing the school’s commitment to promoting indoor games alongside outdoor sports.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt speech by the students of Class XI B, reflecting on the day’s events and expressing gratitude to the teachers and organizers who made the day memorable.
The event was meticulously organized by the responsible teachers, Krishna Baidya and Rajkumar Maity, who ensured the smooth conduct of all activities. Satyajit Roy skillfully captured the day’s highlights through photography and videography, preserving memories of the celebration.
