The National Moot Court Competition 2024, organized by Techno India University‘s School of Legal Science, was a grand success, attracting the finest legal minds from across the country. The event, held on the 9th and 10th of August 2024, was a platform for aspiring lawyers to demonstrate their advocacy skills, engage in rigorous legal debates, and explore the intricacies of the law under the theme “Freedom of Trade.” Approved by the Bar Council of India, this moot court competition was not just a test of legal knowledge but also a celebration of the spirit of law and justice.


The moot court competition was designed to provide law students with a practical experience of courtroom proceedings, enhancing their research, analytical, and oratory skills. The theme “Freedom of Trade” was carefully chosen to reflect current legal challenges in the commercial sector, making it highly relevant to contemporary legal discourse. The competition aimed to simulate real-world legal scenarios, allowing participants to argue on issues related to trade, commerce, and economic freedom.
The competition saw an overwhelming response with 40 teams participating from various prestigious law schools across the nation. Each team, consisting of three members, represented their institutions with great enthusiasm and dedication. The format allowed for more than one team from each institute, ensuring a diverse and competitive environment. In total, 120 participants brought their unique perspectives and legal acumen to the competition, making it a truly national event.
The competition was divided into multiple rounds, starting with preliminary rounds where teams were assessed on their written submissions, known as memorials, and oral arguments. The judges, comprising eminent legal professionals, academicians, and former judges, evaluated the teams based on their legal reasoning, presentation, and ability to respond to questions. The rigorous process ensured that only the best teams advanced to the final rounds.

The panel of judges was one of the highlights of the competition. It included:

After two days of intense competition, the team from the University of Engineering & Management (UEM) emerged as the winners of the National Moot Court Competition 2024. Their well-researched arguments, clear articulation, and ability to address complex legal issues impressed the judges, earning them the top spot. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of ₹20,000, a trophy, and certificates of merit. Their victory was a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and dedication to the field of law.

The first runner-up was awarded to another deserving team, who received a cash prize of ₹15,000 along with a trophy and certificates. The second runner-up, too, was recognized with a cash prize of ₹10,000, a trophy, and certificates. These awards not only celebrated the achievements of the participants but also motivated them to continue their pursuit of excellence in the legal profession.
It was more than just a contest; it was a learning experience for all involved. It provided participants with an opportunity to engage with contemporary legal issues, interact with seasoned professionals, and hone their skills in a simulated courtroom environment.
