TIGPS Garia students had an enriching and exhilarating experience as they participated in the first round of the prestigious contest ‘আনন্দবাজার, শব্দ-জব্দ ২০২৪’. The initial round took place within the familiar environment of our school premises, right in our own respective classrooms.
The event was graced by officials from the ABP Network, who organized and supervised the contest meticulously. Each participating student received a worksheet comprising 12 questions, divided into three distinct sections. The time allotted for completing this rigorous yet fascinating questionnaire was 30 minutes.
The first section of the worksheet challenged the students to rearrange a given set of Bengali letters to form meaningful words. This section not only tested their knowledge of vocabulary but also their ability to think quickly and accurately under time constraints.
The second section posed a slightly tougher challenge. Here, the students were required to add the appropriate কার-চিহ্ন (vowel signs) to given sets of ব্যঞ্জনবর্ণ (consonants) to create meaningful phrases and words. This exercise was a test of their deeper understanding of Bengali grammar and their ability to apply this knowledge practically.
The final section proved to be the most intriguing and challenging. It featured conundrums or ‘ধাঁধা’ that required the students to guess the exact term from the given clues. This section tested not only their vocabulary but also their lateral thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Participating in ‘আনন্দবাজার, শব্দ-জব্দ ২০২৪’ was a highly valuable experience for all the students involved. It provided a unique opportunity to test their IQ and linguistic skills in an engaging and competitive setting. The contest also enabled them to explore and expand their Bengali শব্দভাণ্ডার (vocabulary), which is a critical aspect of their cultural and linguistic education.
The excitement and enthusiasm among the students were palpable. They found the contest both challenging and enjoyable, providing a perfect blend of learning and fun.
