Kolkata, 26 June, 2024: The Calcutta Debating Circle, spearheaded by Dr. Kunal Sarkar, organized an enriching workshop and debate session at the Techno India campus today. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 62 students from TIGPS and TMSL who were provided with an invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the field of debating and public speaking.Renowned mentors from prestigious institutions such as Cambridge University, the London School of Economics (LSE), Harvard , Yale and Leeds University guided the students through the workshop. Their expert insights and guidance helped students hone their debating skills, critical thinking, and articulation.
Professor Manoshi Roychowdhury, a staunch advocate for holistic education, expressed her enthusiasm about the event. “It is indeed a platform that I have always envisioned for our students. Participating in such workshops not only enhances their academic skills but also prepares them for real-world challenges,” she said.
The workshop and debate were designed to foster a spirit of intellectual engagement and competitive spirit among the students. The topic of the debate was : Should Indian students pursue their studies in their own country or go abroad . It provided them with a unique opportunity to interact with international experts and gain exposure to global standards of debating. For the motion won but as a speaker Srija Mahato from TIGPS Garia won the best speaker and she is selected for the final on 1st July.
Dr. Kunal Sarkar, the driving force behind the Calcutta Debating Circle, emphasized the importance of such initiatives. “Debating is a crucial skill that empowers students to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage constructively.
