A team from Techno Main Salt Lake’s Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) Department, named “MediTrack,” has made a significant achievement by securing the first position at the business idea pitching event “Think Tank” during Physiantrix’24, organised by the Department of Applied Physics, University of Calcutta. The event took place on September 8, 2024, at Rashbehari Shiksha Prangan (Rajabazar Science College Campus).
The MediTrack team, led by Sneha Bandyopadhyay (3rd year, EIE), and comprising team members Arighna Mukherjee and Sharanya Roy (both 3rd year, EIE), won the competition with their innovative product, VitalWatch. Their idea was highly appreciated, and they received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 along with winner certificates.
VitalWatch is an IoT based smart saline monitoring system that tracks patients’ saline intake levels in real-time. In circumstances of an emergency, the system notifies and alerts medical personnel, which ensures rapid response and improved patient care. This innovative approach fills an urgent requirement in medical facilities: better, more precise patient monitoring of those receiving saline therapy.
Subhajit Bhowmick, Assistant Professor from the EIE Department at Techno Main Salt Lake, mentored the team throughout the competition. Their success at Physiantrix’24 highlights the students’ talent and the university’s commitment to encouraging innovation and practical applications in healthcare.
This achievement is a result of their diligence and a step forward in the use of technology to improve patient care.
