40 Years of Techno India Group – A Legacy Etched in Hearts

Then, Now, and Always for Learning.

“Some journeys are not counted by years, but by the lives they touch and the dreams they inspire.”

Forty years – a milestone that speaks of perseverance, passion, and purpose. From humble beginnings to becoming one of India’s most trusted names in education, Techno India Group has grown into more than just an institution – it has become a living legacy.

This journey has been shaped not only by vision and innovation but by the people who poured their hearts into it. The professors who turned classrooms into sanctuaries of inspiration, the mentors who guided countless young minds, and the staff who stood behind every success – each has woven their thread into the rich tapestry of this story.

“Yeh safar sirf sikhane ka nahi, seekhne ka bhi tha,
Yeh raasta sirf manzilon tak nahi, dilon tak jaata hai.”

As we celebrate four decades of excellence, we look beyond the numbers – to the laughter in corridors, the dreams born in labs, the bonds formed over shared coffee breaks, and the unwavering belief that education changes lives.

In this special feature, we turn the spotlight on the voices that have lived this journey – our beloved professors, mentors, and long-serving members who have seen Techno India evolve from vision to victory. Their reflections, filled with warmth and wisdom, remind us that legacies are not built in bricks and buildings, but in people and purpose.

“It takes hands to build an institution, but hearts to build a legacy.”

And now, let us hear from the voices who have lived this journey – the mentors whose memories, dedication, and love helped shape the soul of Techno India Group.

Dr. Anil Bikash Chowdhur

HOD – Data Science, R & Python | 36+ Years with Techno India Group

“My journey with the parent organization of Techno India Group began in 1989 at the Institute of Computer Engineers (India) at Chatterjee International Centre, where we offered diploma and advanced diploma programs in computer education. In the early 1990s, we introduced the Government of India–recognized DOEACC courses from O-Level to C-Level, building a strong foundation for advanced computing education. When the first approval for a private engineering college came in the late 1990s, it marked a historic turning point for higher education in West Bengal and the beginning of Techno India Group’s remarkable expansion.”

“Over the past 36+ years, I have had the privilege of serving the institution in several leadership roles across different campuses and today continue as a professor at Techno Main Salt Lake while also heading a department at Techno India University. Among the proudest milestones was the establishment of Techno India University in West Bengal—the first private university approved after the policy change. These achievements truly reflect the visionary leadership of our Chairman, Prof. Dr. Goutam RoyChowdhury, whose foresight and optimism shaped the growth of Techno India Group into the educational ecosystem it is today.”

Dr. Anirban Goswami

Assistant Professor | 25+ Years with Techno India Group

“I began my journey with the Techno India Group in 1998 as a Bachelor’s student at ICI (Chatterjee International) on Jawaharlal Nehru Road. After completing my degree in 2001, I returned to the institution as a faculty member and officially joined Techno Main Salt Lake on July 1, 2001 — marking the beginning of a professional journey at the same place where I once studied.”

“When I joined, the campus had only two rooms in the Phase I building, surrounded by overgrown grass, with just four streams—CS, IT, CSE, and BCA—and around 270 students. Over the years, the institution has grown remarkably, with multiple campus phases and more than 15,000 students today.”

“Looking back on nearly 25 years, what I value most is the dignity, trust, and respect the institution has given me. Growing alongside Techno India Group in such a supportive environment has been my most meaningful and memorable achievement.”

Prof. Shantanu Mallick

Senior Technical Assistant – Engineering Graphics & Design | 24+ Years with Techno India Group

“Whenever I look back at my joining day, it still feels special. I was nervous because I had no prior teaching experience—only about a year and a half in the industry—and just a few years earlier I had been a student myself. The idea of standing on the other side of the classroom felt overwhelming at first.

My journey began in a small two-storied building, where I collected my first routine and prepared for my first class with the Computer Science department. From the very next day, things gradually became easier, and teaching slowly turned into a natural part of my life. Today, as I complete nearly 24 years with the institution, I feel immense pride and happiness in having witnessed its growth from the early days. The supportive environment here made the journey smooth, and knowing that I could contribute—even in a small way—to this evolution gives me deep satisfaction.”

Sudip Mondal

Senior Technical Assistant | 23+ Years with Techno India Group

“I joined Techno India Group on ‘1st December 2001’ at the age of 23 — it was my ‘first job,’ and I was ‘very much excited’ that morning. At that time, the campus had ‘only one gate’ and ‘only Phase One building with just two floors,’ and there was almost ‘jungle’ in front of it. Since then, I have completed nearly 23 years here and seen tremendous change. In technology, ‘we have developed so much,’ and the group has grown into a ‘big education group in West Bengal’ and a ‘renowned group in India.’ Today, whenever I go outside Kolkata or Bengal and say I am associated with Techno India Group, ‘all know the Techno-India Group.’ I love TechnoIndia because ‘that’s my first job and still I am continuing with this group.’ A proud moment for me is when ‘students got jobs in MNCs or PSUs,’ especially in higher posts. I remember in 2007–08, students from the early batches went to the USA and Canada for their first jobs. When they call and share their experiences with me, ‘this is a proud moment for me.’ As a teacher, we always want students to be established in the world.”

Prof. Anindita Saha

Assistant Professor – Operating System, Computer Network | 20+ Years with Techno India Group

“I joined Techno Main Salt Lake on 1st August 2005, bringing with me two years of prior experience in both the corporate sector and academia. Even then, joining Techno India Group felt special because it was already one of the most recognized institutions in Kolkata. What I remember most about my first day is how welcoming it felt—it didn’t feel like an office, it felt like home. I was warmly greeted by the principal and colleagues, and that sense of belonging has stayed with me throughout my 20-year journey.”

“Over the years, I have seen the institution grow tremendously in scale, reputation, and professionalism while still retaining its family-like culture. Personally, I have evolved along with the institution—academically, professionally, and emotionally. Techno India has given me opportunities to pursue higher studies, including my MBA and PhD, and also allowed me to nurture my passion for culture through Anakronas and the cultural committee. Being part of students’ creativity and growth has been one of the most fulfilling achievements of my journey.”

Prof. Aditi Tokder

Assistant Professor – Digital System design, Computer Networking | 18+ Years with Techno India Group

“I joined Techno-India as a student of this college, and once I took ragging of my juniors — it was funny but interesting too. I have come a long 18 years, and now my students are just like my child; my daughter and they are of the same age. In some way the institution has evolved a lot — when we joined as faculty, the library and lab setup were not like what we are seeing now. Today we have a more advanced library with a journal section, and many colleges do not have a lab setup like this. Still, I will say there is scope for a lot of improvement if the college gives us that scope. Earlier we had 60 to 65 students in a class, mostly from science background, but now we handle more than 80 students from different backgrounds, even biology students in engineering. In 2025, my student’s team achieved first position in the National Space Hackathon conducted by ISRO. They have also participated in international hackathons and reached the final stage. Many students have achieved in debate, quiz, and project competitions. One of my students secured first position in an international project competition held in Nepal and is now in Germany — I was his mentor, and there is a lot more I can’t even remember.”

Subhomoy Pal

Technical Assistant | 18+ Years with Techno India Group

“Actually I am a mechanical engineer, and I am here from an industry — it was a totally different changeover from industry to a college academic concern.’ Though I used to give tuitions, I had ‘no direct experience in a college,’ so it was ‘really thrilling’ to think how I would manage 60 students at a time. When the principal asked if I could stay seven hours, I felt staying was not a problem, but ‘taking classes was really thrilling to me.’ Coming from industry with all the ‘hustle bustle,’ this environment was a ‘total surprise,’ where it is about ‘seeking after knowledge.’ I joined in 2007 under Basic Science because ‘at that time there was no Mechanical Engineering department.’ In 2012, Mechanical and Civil Engineering started — ‘this is a huge change.’ Around 2013–14, when the university came into existence, I served ‘dual duty’ taking regular classes and conducting mechanical labs. ‘When I came, we didn’t have a Phase Two building,’ and now it has gone up to 11 or 12 floors. ‘Standing in 2025, this is a big, big Techno India.’ The journey has been long, and ‘Techno India has flourished day by day under the very strong leadership of our Chairman sir and Co-Chairman madam.”

Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty

HOD –  CSE | 18+ Years with Techno India Group

“Back in 2008, I began my journey with Techno India Group with great enthusiasm and a deep commitment to contributing to the field of education and society. Over the past 18 years, the institution has become more than just a workplace for me—it has truly felt like a family, a vision, and a movement dedicated to educational innovation and nation-building. Being part of the Department of Computer Science and watching it grow over the years has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my journey.”

“During this time, I have achieved several milestones, including completing my M.Tech from Shibpur B.E. College and earning my Ph.D. from Techno India University. I was also honoured with the ACR Research Award in 2025 and have actively participated in conferences, academic programs, and institutional initiatives. Today, as the Head of the CSE (Data Science) department and Convenor of the IIC at Techno Main Salt Lake, I feel proud to contribute to the institution’s growth under the inspiring leadership of our Founder Chairman, Dr. Goutam Roychowdhury, and Co-Chairperson Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury.”

Prof. Debaprasad De

Assistant Professor ECU   | 18+ Years with Techno India Group

“I can still remember the date—it was Monday, 14th January 2008. From the very first day, I felt an extremely positive atmosphere at Techno India. What always stands out to me is that the institution feels less like a workplace and more like a family. The environment here gives everyone—faculty, staff, and employees—the freedom to work, express ideas, and take responsibility without unnecessary pressure, which creates a truly encouraging and supportive space.

As a member of the Electronics and Communication Engineering department, I have seen the institution evolve strongly with the demands of modern technology. From fields like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and IoT to continuous initiatives such as seminars, workshops, symposiums, and faculty development programs, Techno India has kept pace with innovation under the visionary leadership of our Chairman, Prof. Dr. Goutam Roychowdhury, along with the guidance of Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury Ma’am and Dr. Meghdut RoyChowdhury. Memorable milestones include our department receiving NBA accreditation in 2009 and again in 2024.”

Prof. Jona Basu

HOD   | 19+ Years with Techno India Group

“I was a little nervous at first, moving from teaching school students to standing before a classroom full of college students. My first class was with the EC batch, an English communication lab, and both the students and I were trying to understand each other. But that initial hesitation soon turned into meaningful connections, many of which still remain today with students from the 2005–2009 batches.

Those early years were full of memorable beginnings. I was fortunate to be involved in shaping Geekonics and working with the editorial team that created the first magazine, later named ‘Graffiti’ after a student’s spontaneous suggestion. We worked in the old ACC building—sometimes under staircases—driven by creativity and enthusiasm. Initiatives like the first Mr. Fresher also emerged from students’ ideas. Looking back, Techno India Group has evolved in leaps and bounds—from a green campus with a small canteen and coffee corners to what it has become today, and I would love to see it reach the very helm of glory.”

Dr. Bidishna Bhattacharya

Assistant Professor | 16+ Years with Techno India Group

“My first day at Techno India Group began with a quiet mix of excitement and curiosity. After completing the joining formalities, I met the HOD, Prof. Subrata Pal, whose warm welcome and encouraging words immediately made me feel at ease. Sitting in the faculty room, meeting colleagues, and joining conversations about courses and student projects gave me a comforting sense that I had become part of a vibrant academic family.

Looking back, it has been inspiring to see how the institution has steadily grown and strengthened over the years. With modern classrooms, improved laboratories, digital learning tools, and strong encouragement for faculty development, Techno India has evolved into a forward-looking educational space. One of my most memorable moments was mentoring a student who later secured a research internship at DRDO. Watching a student grow from curiosity in the classroom to achieving such a prestigious opportunity was incredibly fulfilling and truly reflects the spirit of Techno India in nurturing potential.”

Prof. Rhituparna Ganguly

Assistant Professor – English Communication | 15+ Years with Techno India Group

“My journey with Techno India began in 2009, and over time it became much more than a workplace — it became my second home. Spending most of my days on campus, I found warmth, companionship, and a deep sense of belonging, where every moment felt meaningful. “Every happy day in Techno became my little achievements.” I always wanted to be more than a teacher — I wanted to be a mentor. I loved interacting with students, understanding their emotions, sometimes even playing the role of a mother. “Every child should become the best version of himself or herself.” As a Lecturer in English, I believed teaching was not just about completing the syllabus but about igniting young minds and nurturing confidence in young hearts. “When your passion actually becomes your profession, it’s nothing like it.” Among the many inspirations in my journey, Manoshi Roychowdhury stood out as a leader of grace and empathy, whose faith and public encouragement of my passion remain one of my greatest achievements. “She not only recognizes just what I do but also who I am.”
