Held at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan<\/strong>, Techno India University’s<\/a> Annual Convocation 2026<\/strong> was not merely a ceremony, it was a heartfelt celebration of achievement, gratitude and the promise of new beginnings.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grand ceremony witnessed the conferment of degrees upon the 2025\u20132026 graduating batch<\/strong>, including doctoral scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, while university rank holders and gold medallists were honoured for their outstanding academic achievements. The atmosphere was filled with pride, joy and emotion as graduates walked across the stage to receive their degrees amidst thunderous applause from family members, faculty and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri<\/a><\/strong>, Vice-Chairperson of NITI Aayog<\/strong>, as the Chief Guest, who also officially inaugurated the Atal Incubation Centre <\/a>\u2013 Techno Innovation and Incubation Council (AIC-Techno)<\/strong>, a landmark initiative that marks a significant milestone in strengthening West Bengal’s startup and innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the graduating class, Professor Dr. Goutam Roychowdhury<\/a><\/strong>, Chancellor of Techno India University and Founder Chairman of Techno India Group<\/strong>, reflected on the true meaning of Convocation.“Convocation is not merely the culmination of academic pursuit; it is the beginning of a lifelong journey of leadership, innovation and service to society. As our graduates step into an increasingly dynamic world, they must embrace change with courage, integrity and compassion. We are equally privileged to honour extraordinary individuals whose remarkable achievements across cinema, science, sports, medicine, literature, spirituality, business and the arts exemplify the transformative power of excellence. One of the highlights of Techno India University Convocation 2026 was the conferment of Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.)<\/strong> degrees upon distinguished personalities from sports, science, literature, medicine, cinema and entrepreneurship.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s distinguished honourees included Padma Bhushan Abhinav Bindra<\/a><\/strong>, India’s first individual Olympic Gold Medallist<\/strong>; Padma Shri Anup Jalota<\/a><\/strong>, internationally acclaimed singer<\/strong>; Rajkumar Hirani<\/a><\/strong>, celebrated filmmaker<\/strong>; Padma Shri Sivasankari Chandrasekaran<\/a><\/strong> renowned author<\/strong> ; Dr. P. Veeramuthuvel<\/a><\/strong>, Project Director of Chandrayaan-3; leading GI and HPB cancer surgeon<\/strong> Dr. Shailesh V. Shrikhande<\/a><\/strong>; Dr. Naresh Chandra Murmu<\/strong><\/a>, Director of CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur; legendary actress Ms. Sabitri Chatterjee<\/a>;<\/strong> and Mr. Ravindra Chamaria<\/a><\/strong>, Chairman of Infinity Group and Vice Chairman of Akshay Patra<\/strong>. Beyond celebrating academic excellence, Convocation 2026 also marked a defining chapter in the University’s journey towards fostering innovation with the launch of AIC-Techno<\/strong>. Supported by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India<\/a><\/strong>, the incubator is the first Atal Incubation Centre in West Bengal<\/strong> and aims to nurture entrepreneurs by providing mentorship, research support, industry collaborations, funding opportunities and access to national innovation networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Meghdut Roychowdhury<\/a><\/strong>, Executive Director and Chief Innovation Officer, Techno India Group<\/strong>, shared the University’s ambitious vision for the initiative. “Bengal has waited a long time for this. AIC-Techno is the first Atal Incubation Centre for startups in the state, backed by NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission. We are committing to incubating 500 startups over the next five years, not just mentoring them, but helping build, fund and take them to market. With an AI-first curriculum, global academic partnerships and the strength of over 100 Techno India Group campuses, AIC-Techno will help put West Bengal back at the centre of India’s startup story”<\/em>, he shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receiving her degree with a smile that reflected years of perseverance, Aditi Sharma<\/strong>, a graduating engineering student, “Today feels unreal. Every assignment, every examination and every challenge has brought me here. Receiving my degree in front of my parents is the proudest moment of my life. Techno India University has given me the confidence to dream bigger, and today marks the beginning of a new journey”<\/em> she shared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
