In a meaningful convergence of legacy, learning, and scientific inquiry, the Department of Microbiology<\/strong> at Techno India University<\/a><\/strong>, West Bengal, in collaboration with the Microbiological Society of India<\/a> (MBSI<\/strong>), West Bengal Chapter, successfully organized the Annual Conference of MBSI<\/strong> along with the prestigious Dr. Ananda Mohan Chakraborty<\/a><\/strong> Memorial Lecture. The occasion was especially significant as it coincided with the birth anniversary of the legendary Indo-American biotechnologist Ananda Mohan Chakraborty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Chakraborty, an alumnus of University of Calcutta<\/strong>, holds a historic place in the world of biotechnology as the first scientist to receive a US patent for a genetically modified living organism – Pseudomonas putida<\/em>, widely known as the \u201coil-eating bacteria.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> His pioneering contribution continues to inspire generations of researchers and students, making the memorial lecture a moment of both reflection and aspiration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the event was the keynote address and award presentation to Souvik Mukherjee<\/a>,<\/strong> Professor at the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani<\/strong>.
