Marking a proud milestone of 25 years, Techno Main Salt Lake<\/a> celebrated its legacy with an electrifying edition of the Oxford Debate on March 28<\/strong>\u2014an event that transformed ideas into powerful dialogue. Hosted by Opinionist<\/a>, the sub-club of Eclectica<\/a><\/strong>, in collaboration with the Calcutta Debating Circle<\/a> (CDC)<\/strong>, the debate brought together some of the sharpest young voices for an exchange that was both intellectually rigorous and deeply relevant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than a competition, it stood as a vibrant celebration of thought, perspective, and expression. The event was made possible through the unwavering support and vision of Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury<\/a>, Chairperson of Techno India Group<\/strong>, along with Dr. Dipankar Bhattacharyay<\/a><\/strong>, Principal and Vice Principals<\/strong>, whose leadership continues to foster a culture where ideas are not only heard but truly valued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The debate was adjudicated by distinguished members of the Calcutta Debating Circle. Mr. Pradeep Gooptu<\/a>, a veteran journalist<\/strong> and Trustee of CDC<\/strong>, brought decades of editorial insight, while Mr. S V Raman (Raju Raman)<\/strong>, former Programme Director at Goethe-Institut \/ Max Mueller Bhavan<\/strong> and a respected cultural figure<\/strong>, enriched the evaluation process with his vast experience in intellectual and cultural discourse. Their presence elevated the debate, offering participants invaluable feedback rooted in real-world perspectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the debate lay the compelling motion: \u201cThis House Regrets the Financialization of Geopolitical Conflicts.\u201d<\/strong> <\/em>The motion sparked a nuanced exploration of how modern warfare is increasingly shaped by economic strategies rather than direct military engagement. The Proposition team argued that financial mechanisms such as sanctions and trade wars create a \u201csilent battlefield,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> emphasizing how such strategies, while less visible than traditional warfare, often deepen inequalities and disproportionately affect vulnerable civilian populations, stripping conflicts of human accountability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
