The School of Allied Health Sciences (Department of Medical Laboratory Technology) at Techno India University, West Bengal<\/strong>, organized a one-day seminar on World Lung Cancer Day<\/strong> on 1st August 2025<\/strong> at the University Auditorium. The event, held in offline mode, drew an enthusiastic participation of 145 attendees<\/strong>, including faculty and students from allied health sciences, pharmacy, and nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme commenced with an inaugural session addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Beduin Mahanti<\/a><\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Prof. (Dr.) Shampa Mallick<\/a><\/strong>, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology; and Ms. Bhaswati Das<\/strong>, Principal of the College and School of Nursing. Their words set the tone for a meaningful day dedicated to creating awareness and promoting preventive measures against lung cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight of the event was an engaging lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Anirban Chowdhury<\/a><\/strong>, Professor at the School of Design, Alliance University, Bangalore. Dr. Chowdhury presented a detailed perspective on the causes, risks, and pathophysiological aspects<\/strong> of lung cancer. He also shed light on recent global innovations in prevention and research<\/strong>, emphasizing how ergonomical and design-based interventions<\/strong> can help healthcare professionals combat mutagens and toxins that contribute to lung cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
