On 13th<\/sup> August, 2025, the atmosphere at \u00c9cole intuit. Lab<\/a>, French School of Design & Creative Strategy, part of Techno India University<\/a>, was charged with excitement and curiosity as freshers walked in for their orientation programme, themed \u201cNew Faces, New Experiences & New Beginnings.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event opened on a warm and melodious note with a welcome song by Professor Udit. Soon after, Ishan Ray<\/a><\/strong>, Head of Academics<\/strong>, took the stage to greet the newcomers and introduce them to the institution\u2019s unique vision. Sharing insights into the school\u2019s approach to design education, he explained how it stands apart from other design schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEnd of the day, it\u2019s not just a logo, it\u2019s not just a poster,\u201d<\/em> he emphasized. \u201cYou are solving a problem and you are not solving that problem for yourself, you are solving a problem in society and even any ecosystem. We are trying to create problem solvers.\u201d<\/em> – said Ishan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meghdut RoyChowdhury<\/a><\/strong>, Executive Director and Co-Director of Techno India Group<\/a><\/strong>, urged students to pursue purpose-driven careers. \u201cIf you really care about something, it should be a very perfect initiative. Not only will it not feel like a day of work, but it will also keep you and your team through your darkest times,\u201d<\/em> he said. With a touch of realism, he reminded them of the changing job landscape in the era of artificial intelligence: \u201cI\u2019m sorry, but no matter how hard you try to stay ahead of the curve, every day you\u2019ll wake up and find a new boon that can probably do your job.\u201d<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme also featured inspiring words from university leadership. Manoshi RoyChowdhury<\/a><\/strong>, Co-Chairperson of Techno India University<\/strong>, spoke about life\u2019s unpredictability and the importance of adaptability. \u201cYou will be planning for something, but you may be taken to a different road\u2026 Always be a learner. Curiosity will keep you young and make you learn much more,\u201d <\/em>she advised. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International leadership of \u00c9cole intuit. Lab also shared their perspectives. Founder<\/strong> Clement Derock<\/a><\/strong> encouraged students to explore the world while staying rooted in their culture. \u201cGrasp as much culture as you can and give the best answer you can. Always bring with you your own culture\u2026 Take the method, take the technology, but pride yourself on your own culture,\u201d<\/em> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding a touch of sustainability-focused wisdom, Pauline Laravoire<\/a><\/strong>, Director of Sustainability<\/strong>, inspired students to embrace their individuality. \u201cBe yourself and find your own creativity\u2026 This is an exciting journey of finding yourself. Take it as a journey where you will learn a lot of things,\u201d<\/em> she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yan Garin<\/a><\/strong>, Country Head of \u00c9cole intuit. Lab<\/strong>, advised, \u201cPlease, take as much as you can from what the facilities have to give you, and with a lot of hard work, you will get exactly where you want to go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fourth-year student offered heartfelt advice about embracing challenges in creative work. \u201cNever stop yourself from taking risks in design because it\u2019s a changing paradigm. If you never try, you\u2019ll never know,\u201d <\/em>they said, drawing nods from the audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Guest Professor Ujjwal Anu Kumar Chowdhury broadened the conversation by discussing design and global perspectives, touching upon India, France, the U.S., and China, before offering motivational guidance for the students\u2019 academic journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day was Interspersed with interactive and light-hearted segments. Team Monoshij<\/a><\/strong> and Make Calcutta Relevant Again<\/strong><\/a> conducted engaging talk sessions, while students presented an overview of the facilities. After lunch, an ice-breaker game between seniors and freshers broke the formal tone and helped everyone bond. Laughter and friendly competition filled the air as the new batch began connecting with their seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the time the programme wrapped up, the freshers had not only met their mentors and peers but also absorbed valuable insights about their journey ahead. The day was a blend of inspiration, guidance, and camaraderie, which is a fitting start to their life at one of the most creative and globally connected design schools in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
