Gangtok, July 10: Techno India Group<\/a><\/strong> (TIG) proudly presented its socially-driven short film \u2018Opang\u2019 at a special charity premiere held at Vajra Cinema Hall, Gangtok.<\/strong><\/em> Organised by the Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department in collaboration with Amitabha School and the Himalayan Zoological Park, the event placed wildlife conservation at its heart\u2014an ethos that resonates deeply with the core values of Techno India Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Produced under the creative vision of Techno India Group by Mr. Meghdut Roy Chowdhury<\/a><\/strong>, Chief Innovation Officer of TIG<\/strong>, and directed<\/strong> by Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharyaa<\/a><\/strong>, Opang unfolds in the serene yet challenging landscape of Gnathang Valley. Rooted in a heartfelt story of youth, resilience, and a deep bond with nature, the film reflects TIG\u2019s passion for storytelling that inspires and educates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special mention goes to the film\u2019s cinematographer<\/strong>, Tuhin Saha<\/a><\/strong>, whose lens captured the raw beauty of Gnathang Valley with breathtaking clarity. His ability to frame nature as both a character and a backdrop brought a unique depth to Opang\u2019s narrative. From sweeping Himalayan vistas to quiet emotional moments, Tuhin\u2019s visual storytelling enriched the film\u2019s soul and elevated its emotional impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening began with a warm welcome by Ms Pema Dolkar<\/a><\/strong>, Director of Amitabha School,<\/strong> who reflected on the importance of instilling conservation values in the next generation. The premiere was graced by Chief Guest Madam Krishna Rai<\/a><\/strong> and MLA cum Advisor Mr Tenzing Norbu Lamtha<\/a><\/strong>, along with other dignitaries and community leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the event\u2019s significance, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests cum Secretary Dr. Pradeep Kumar addressed the audience on the transformative impact of the My Child from the Wild<\/em> initiative, envisioned by Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang. Dr. Kumar emphasized that conservation must be a collective effort, empowering individuals to take ownership of their natural surroundings through initiatives like Mero Rukh Mero Santati<\/em> and Mero Bato Mero Bot<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screening included two impactful short documentaries\u2014one capturing the experiences of the adopters of My Child from the Wild<\/em>, and another showcasing the tireless efforts of the Himalayan Zoological Park. Both films complemented the central message of Opang<\/em> by illustrating real-life conservation stories from Sikkim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opang<\/em>, led by debut actor Rigdzin Yugyal, captivated the audience with its authenticity and emotional depth. The film team extended gratitude to the people of Gnathang Valley for their support during filming, which was crucial in bringing the story to life amid the region\u2019s challenging terrain and weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding a vibrant cultural dimension, students of Amitabha School performed a skit inspired by the film\u2019s themes, followed by a stirring live performance of Demajong Ghi Phumo<\/em> by singer Nyizang Palmu\u2014a tribute to the daughters of Sikkim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film has already begun its journey across international and national platforms, having been officially selected for the Gimpo International Youth Film Festival in South Korea and recognised at prestigious film festivals in Jaipur and Kolkata. These honours reflect not only the creative excellence of Opang<\/em> but also the broader vision of Techno India Group to use cinema as a tool for education, engagement, and environmental awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in attendance were the adopters of the My Child from the Wild<\/em> initiative, which included, among many, Honourable MLA Shri Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, who also serves as the Honourable Advisor to the Forest Department. He has been an active and vocal supporter of the initiative, bringing schoolchildren from his constituency into its fold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screening was also graced by Shri Thenley Tshering Bhutia, Honourable MLA of the Kabi Lungchok constituency, and Shri Sonam Tshering Venchungpa, Honourable MLA of the Martam-Rumtek constituency.
