Hosted in the <strong>VLSI Lab<\/strong> of the ECE department, this hands-on training program focused on <strong>reusable mobile phones<\/strong>, and saw enthusiastic participation from second-year ECE students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conducted under the guidance of <strong>Assistant Professor Mr. Pallab Das<\/strong>, the workshop offered students a deep dive into the <strong>internal architecture of mobile phones<\/strong>, encouraging them to disassemble and analyze components from faulty devices. Around <strong>30 students<\/strong> participated in the training session, learning to identify and test real mobile phone hardware while applying key concepts from their academic curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session covered a structured set of modules, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Introduction to Mobile Phone Architecture<\/strong>: An overview of mobile phone PCBs, block diagrams of smartphones, and the role of internal components.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tools and Safety Practices<\/strong>: ESD safety, grounding methods, and handling essential tools like multimeters, tweezers, soldering stations, magnifiers, and hot air guns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Component Identification &amp; Workshops like these are essential to holistic engineering education.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vice Principal Dr. Nazmul Islam<\/strong> added, <em>\u201cUsing scrap mobile phones to teach students about real-world electronics not only promotes learning but also sustainability. Such programs are the need of the hour, and we wholeheartedly support them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Student responses reflected the program\u2019s effectiveness: <strong>Ankit Kumar Pal<\/strong>, 2nd-year ECE student, shared, <em>&#8220;While working on this task, I learned many new things. Analyzing the topics and problems helped me strengthen my understanding and improved my problem-solving skills. If I get a chance to study this in more depth, I will be able to perform even better. Overall, it was a useful and enriching experience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lawkesh Yadav<\/strong>, another 2nd-year student, commented, <em>\u201cThe program provided a valuable hands-on experience, effectively bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications in telecommunications. Understanding the components of Android phones offered great insight into hardware-software integration. The sessions were well-structured and highly engaging.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shruti Kumari<\/strong>, also from the second-year ECE batch, remarked, <em>\u201cThe program was very good. Hosted in the VLSI Lab of the ECE department, this hands-on training program focused on reusable mobile phones, and saw enthusiastic participation from second-year ECE students. Conducted under the guidance of Assistant Professor Mr. Pallab Das, the workshop offered students a deep dive into the internal architecture of mobile phones, encouraging them to disassemble and analyze components from faulty devices. Around 30 students participated in the training session, learning to identify and test real mobile phone hardware while applying key concepts from their academic curriculum. The session covered a structured set of modules, including: Principal Dr. Sharbani Roy lauded the initiative, stating: \u201cWe always encourage our students to gain real-time, hands-on experience with various engineering devices. Workshops like these are essential to holistic engineering education.\u201d Vice Principal Dr. Nazmul Islam added, \u201cUsing scrap mobile phones to teach students about real-world electronics not only promotes learning but also sustainability. Such programs are the need of the hour, and we wholeheartedly support them.\u201d Student responses reflected the program\u2019s effectiveness: Ankit Kumar Pal, 2nd-year ECE student, shared, &#8220;While working on this task, I learned many new things. Analyzing the topics and problems helped me strengthen my understanding and improved my problem-solving skills. If I get a chance to study this in more depth, I will be able to perform even better. Overall, it was a useful and enriching experience.\u201d Lawkesh Yadav, another 2nd-year student, commented, \u201cThe program provided a valuable hands-on experience, effectively bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications in telecommunications. Understanding the components of Android phones offered great insight into hardware-software integration. The sessions were well-structured and highly engaging.\u201d Shruti Kumari, also from the second-year ECE batch, remarked, \u201cThe program was very good. I learned new things, especially about the different types of components used in mobile phone development.\u201d To support learning, students were provided with toolkits, practice boards, training notes, and a soft copy of the training materials.
